To kick off this year’s ‘Sisters’ Season’, Arena Theatre are proud to present a double-bill of exceptional one-act plays from some of the finest female talent in 21st-century theatre. With Phoebe Waller Bridge’s award-winning Fleabag, we are thrust into the modern world of love, sex and guinea pig care, as seen through the somewhat depraved eyes of the eponymous character. Fresh from the Edinburgh Fringe and BBC3, Fleabag is a heart-breaking and hilarious slice of London life.
Following this, we journey into the near future for Jennifer Haley’s The Nether, a world in which online avatars have become the norm, and society is allowed to live out its darkest fantasies unregulated. A disturbing insight into the morality of desire, The Nether is a twisted tale that will question what it truly means to be good and evil in our cybernetic world. Please be aware that both plays contain frequent, strong and sexual language.
Performance dates are: Shelley Theatre (Bournemouth) 6-7 April; Bournemouth Little Theatre 20-21 April; Hanger Farm Arts Centre (Totton) 12 May. All tickets are available from the various venues
