New and upcoming local group Spot On Productions returns to the Point, Eastleigh, between 15 and 18 November to perform one of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s most popular musicals, Whistle Down the Wind. Based on the much-loved book and film, Lloyd Webber and Jim Steinman’s musical is an extraordinary, uplifting tale of the transforming power of love and was a smash hit success in London’s West End from 1998, featuring a powerful score that includes the title song, ‘Whistle down the wind’, and the chart-topping hit, ‘No matter what’.
In America’s Deep South, a 15-year-old girl discovers a mysterious man hiding out in a barn; when she asks his identity and he utters the words ‘Jesus Christ’, it is as though her prayers have been answered. She and the other children of the town vow to protect him from the outside world; meanwhile, the adult townsfolk are determined to catch a fugitive ….This production combines epic storytelling with intimate emotion as the innocence of children collides with the cynicism of the world that surrounds them.
This ensemble cast has grown from strength to strength over the past two years. Adults and children alike are promised to give superb performances under the musical direction of Martin Bennetts and direction of Alick Leech.
Tickets available from the Point Box Office £12.50 / £9.50 concessions. Tel: 023 8065 2333. www.thepointeastleigh.co.uk.
